Quick answer

Most Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants open between 10 and 11 AM and close at 11 PM or midnight on weeknights. On Friday and Saturday a lot of them stay open until midnight, and some until 1 or 2 AM. Every store we track is open on Sunday. Each franchise sets its own hours, so check your store before a late-night run.

Is Dave’s Hot Chicken Open Late?

Yes, more than most fast food chains. Midnight is a normal closing time, and on weekends several stores go to 1 or 2 AM. Some locations also run Dave’s After Dark, a late-night menu served after 8 PM. It first appeared in August 2025 as a short DoorDash promotion, then came back in June 2026 with a new seven-item lineup of late-night snacks and shakes (the full list is in our limited-time menu section). It’s only at participating stores and can change by season, so open the Dave’s app after 8 PM to see if your store has it tonight. Our deals page keeps track of what’s running.

When Is Dave’s Hot Chicken Least Busy?

Long lines are one of the biggest complaints about Dave’s, especially at new stores in their first few weeks. Dave’s doesn’t publish busy-time data, but these general patterns will help you skip most of the wait:

  • Quietest: weekday mid-afternoon, roughly 2–5 PM, between the lunch and dinner rushes.
  • Busiest: weekday lunch (about 12–1:30 PM), dinner (about 6–8 PM) and Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Order ahead: place a pickup order in the Dave’s app or on the website so your food is being made while you’re on the way.
  • Check live crowds: Google Maps shows a “Popular times” chart for most stores, which is the best guide for your exact location.
  • New store? Give it a few weeks after opening, or go right when the doors open.

Holiday Hours

Holidays are different. Based on what has been reported, most stores close on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day and run shorter hours on Christmas Eve, but Dave’s hasn’t published an official holiday schedule. Our holiday hours guide covers every major 2026 holiday date by date.

How to Check Your Store’s Hours Today

  • The Dave’s app: pick your store and it shows that day’s hours. It also won’t let you order for a time when the store is closed.
  • The official store locator: daveshotchicken.com/locations lists each store’s weekly hours.
  • Google Maps: search “Dave’s Hot Chicken” and look for “Open now” or “Closes soon” on the listing.
